A: Robert Lee Frost (1874-1963), American poet who was one of the major American poets of the 20th century.
Frost was born March 26, 1874, in San Francisco and educated at Dartmouth College and Harvard University. Robert Frost published his first two volumes of poetry, a group of lyrics entitled "A Boy's Will (1913) and a series of dramatic monolgues called "North of Boston (1914)". Among the volumes of poetry he produced are "Mountain Interval (1916), "West-Running Brook (1928), A Further Range (1936), A Masque of Reason (1945) and In the Clearing (1962). Frost was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for poetry four times, 1924, 1931, 1937 and 1943.

A: Robert Frost was known as a bit of a curmudgeon..grumping around his farm, writing poems when (as his neighbors' believed) he should have been milking his cows. He was often impatient with critics and, so the story goes, when complemented on "Stopping By Woods..." as being a great poem about death, he said "What do you mean about death? It's about stopping by the woods...."
"Stopping" and "The Road Not Taken" are two of my favorite poems and demonstrate the kind of eternal folk wisdom Frost is noted for. Other poems have to do with what critics call "found objects," that is poems that point out the native and symbolic significance of objects most people wouldn't ever notice. Frost was good at noticing things for the rest of us.
Hope this helps. It's not very academic, but I really don't think Frost himself was very academic (in the dried out sensibility some critics insist on bringing to poetry)...if that makes sense.

A: Robert Frost (1874-1963) was born in San Francisco, which surprises many people who think of him as a New Englander. His father was from New Hampshire, and Frost went to high school in Massachusetts. He attended Dartmouth, but dropped out. Later, he attended Harvard in a non-degree program. He was married in 1895 to Elinor White (who died in 1938,) and in 1899 his grandfather bought him a farm in New Hampshire, which he sold in 1911. The next year, he and his family moved to England and lived in London. The First World War forced him to return to the US in 1915, where his poetry began to be published here. In 1917 he joined the faculty at Amherst. Frost was widely reported to be a difficult person to live with, but his poems are independent of the man. His most popular ones include "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening," "Mending Wall", "The Road Not Taken," "Birches," "Fire and Ice," "Acquainted With the Night," and "The Gift Outright."
